Great Britain and France, countries that occupied Canada before any other European countries in the era colonists, had police which ran on same system as their mother countries in order to protect the settlers and keep public order. However, after Seven Years’ war ended with Great Britain’s victory, Canada became a Commonwealth of Nations and its police system was adopted. As economic activity brisked due to increasement of population and developed society, mission and role of police expanded to collecting taxes, bank guard, personal protection and traffic control. Federal government and autonomy in the diversified society needed security force to support their policy, so they organized various police groups to keep the stability of the country. Due to lack of financial ability, some provinces and autonomy contracted with RCMP or provincial police in order to satisfy people’s security needs by filling the holes in public order. Canadian police was born to fulfill people’s needs, and gain people’s trust by becoming a military force when the country needs them to. In these days, due to their urbanization and town’s growth, Canadian police’s office is expanding. Province and autonomy utilize RCMP, provincial police and local police with their best capability. However, utilizing police forces from other agent, there are some gaps between police’s organization. That is one weak point that leads people’s trust level falling, and needs to be corrected. After all, it is valuable for us, who pursue the autonomy police, to look in to Canadian police’s current situation, their history, and connection between military force.
